First North American 100% Electric Greenline 40 Delivered by YSI

Fort Lauderdale, FL — August 1, 2025 — Yacht Sales International has taken delivery of the first 100% electric Greenline 40 in North America — a milestone for zero-emission boating in the 40-foot production class. The vessel was unloaded in Baltimore and will be based in Annapolis, Maryland, custom-ordered by a client committed to zero-emission cruising without compromising comfort, performance, or range.

The delivery marks the first North American installation of Ingenity Electric’s twin-motor mCrate propulsion system in a Greenline production hull — a collaboration between Greenline Yachts, Ingenity Electric, and YSI that has been years in the making.

Why the Electric Greenline 40 Matters

The production Greenline hybrid yachts that have defined the brand since 2008 use a parallel hybrid system — diesel and electric working in tandem. The Greenline 40 Electric is fundamentally different: it removes the diesel propulsion system entirely, replacing it with twin electric motors drawing from a 189kWh lithium battery bank. The result is a cruising yacht with zero direct emissions, near-silent operation, and dramatically reduced mechanical complexity.

For the Chesapeake Bay — where this vessel will spend most of its time — the practical implications are significant. No diesel smell at anchor. No generator running in the evening. No emissions in environmentally sensitive waterways. Just the kind of quiet, clean passage that the Bay deserves.

Ingenity Electric mCrate Propulsion System

The propulsion system is provided by Ingenity Electric, a subsidiary of Correct Craft headquartered in Orlando, FL. Ingenity’s twin-drive mCrate system was selected for this installation because its engine room footprint matches the Greenline 40’s layout — an important consideration in a 40-foot hull where space is finite.

“Ingenity’s Twin Drive mCrate System is such a great match for the Greenline 40. The engine room layout allows abundant space for the installation, and as we already know, the hull is a proven efficient design,” said Capt. Todd Sims, Director of Ingenity Electric. “Our system’s duty cycle, speed, and range capabilities will suit most of the typical use cases for this type of vessel.”

Electric Drivetrain Specifications

  • Motors: Two 135kW continuous electric motors (twin-drive mCrate)
  • Battery packs: Three 63kWh lithium NMC packs
  • Total capacity: 189kWh at 400V
  • Onboard charging: 10kW Level 2 AC charging standard
  • DC fast charging: Up to 85kW capability
  • Thermal management: Advanced system with heat pump for optimal battery performance
  • Connectivity: Remote telematics and over-the-air updates via Ingenity Connect app

The electric drivetrain eliminates direct emissions at the point of use, reduces maintenance requirements (no oil changes, no impeller replacements, no belt-driven accessories), and delivers a vibration-free ride characteristic of electric propulsion — a difference that is immediately apparent to anyone who has spent time on a conventional diesel yacht.

From the Founders

“This yacht is the result of true collaboration between a customer with vision, a boatbuilder committed to sustainability, and a propulsion partner at the forefront of marine innovation,” said Udo Willersinn, Co-Founder of Yacht Sales International. “With the Greenline 40 Electric, we’re not just delivering a boat — we’re delivering the future of yachting.”

This delivery follows YSI’s earlier milestone: the delivery of the first 100% electric Greenline 39 in the nation’s capital — another zero-emission first for the Chesapeake region. YSI has now delivered more all-electric Greenline vessels in North America than any other dealer.

What This Means for Prospective Owners

The Greenline 40 Electric is not a concept or a custom one-off — it is a production-ready configuration available to order. With the first North American delivery now complete and operational data accumulating in real-world conditions, prospective buyers can make their decision on the basis of demonstrated performance rather than spec-sheet projections.

To understand how the electric system compares to Greenline’s standard hybrid propulsion, or to discuss ordering a Greenline 40 Electric for your home waters, contact the YSI team directly. We are the only dealer in North America with hands-on delivery experience with this specific configuration.
